About our Community

Watch the video to the right to enjoy a short YouTube musical video entitled 'Outer Banks Song - The Outer Banks and You'.  Southern Shores Realty produced this YouTube video.
Carolina Dunes is a community that consists of about 230 homes situated approximated one mile north of the Town of Duck.  See interactive map to the right for the specific location of Carolina Dunes, whose southern boundary is marked by Widgeon Drive, and northern boundary marked by Old Squaw Drive.   Most homes in the community are rented during the summer months on a weekly basis, but are occupied on the weekends in the fall and spring by owners.  In fact, some homes in the community are occupied year round by their owners!
Homes in our community were constructed primarily in the late 1970s, and 1980s, although some new houses have been built in recent years.  If you would like more information on the history of the community, click the 'History' link in the menu bar above.  You can also view the webcams at the nearby Army Corps of Engineers pier looking towards the ocean by clicking <<here>>.  Carolina Dunes is a subdivision within the incorporated town of Duck and does not provide any services other than through the Carolina Dunes Homeowner Association.  The Town of Duck provides trash, police, and fire safety.  For more information on the Town of Duck's services, activities, and regulations, visit The Town of Duck Website.

The State of North Carolina provides road services.

The Carolina Dunes Homeowners Association plays a vital role in the community by coordinating repairs to the public beach access ways, disseminating information to property owners that live outside of the community, and keeping informed about news in neighboring communities.  The $125 annual membership fee for joining the Association goes towards maintaining the passage ways to the ocean and sound, as well as the flowers and signage that welcomes guests (and owners!) to our community.  Please make sure you join the Association and become an active member.  If you would like more information on how you can contribute to the Association, please contact Ron Blunck.
