There is an interesting article in the Outer Banks Voice that might be significant in how we address future beach erosion.

They produce a product they claim is all-natural and can be placed in trenches on the beach. The product would then mix with beach sand over time and would cause sand particles to bond together and thereby withstand erosion pressures. The end result might be less beach erosion over time and hence a reduced need for sand renourishment projects. This sounds like an interesting concept, but it would need to be fully tested of course. The Board will monitor future news on this and share it with the community.
